Black Creek District Awards
Three Volunteer Scouters
Black Creek District recently awarded three District
Awards of Merit at their annual District Recognition
Banquet held at the Ashley Lodge, Camp Echockotee, on
November 17, 2005.
The recipients were;
Bert V. Royal
Bert is completing his second year as Chairman of Black
Creek District. Bert has participated in the District’s
Twelve Points District Dinner as an organizer and as a
financial supporter.
In addition, Bert has served in various capacities in
the Clay County Community such as, but not limited to,
President of Clay County Chamber of Commerce; President of
Clay County Economic Development as well as being awarded
the distinction as the Clay Business Person of the year.
Julia McCurry
Julia is presently serving as Assistant Cubmaster for
Pack 577. Previous positions held include Tiger Den Leader
and Wolf Den Leader.
Julia has also coordinated the annual Cub Scout
Round-Up from 2003 - 2005 for the Pack. Dubbed “Camping In
The Cafeteria” it has been met with overwhelming success.
In addition, Julia has served on the staff of Cub Scout
Summer Camp and Twilight Camp as well as all the
District/Council camp outs throughout the years for Cub
Scouts and their parents.
Ronald J. Shaffer, Jr
Ronnie has served the district as a Webelo’s Leader for
Pack 418 and as Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 418 as well
as a Unit Commissioner. Ronnie currently serves as Troop
425’s Committee Chairman.
In addition, Ronnie is in his second year as the
District Camping Chairman and as the District Campmaster at
several District events including the Merit Badge Fair and
Cub-O-Ree.
Also, Ronnie served on staff for training events such
as Cub Scout Basic Leader Training for Webelo’s Leaders the
past three years, as well as Scoutmaster Leader Specific
Training for the years 2003 and 2005.
Congratulations are in order for these noteworthy
recipients, for they have served Scouting well.
