BSA Lifeguard Class

 

THE CLASS IS FULL!

Requirements: Age14 and up (Open to Adults and for those who need re-certification)

 

Participants will need to be a strong swimmer, responsible, complete a written test, and demonstrate knowledge in a practical test.

 

Boys will earn the swimming, lifesaving, and canoeing merit badges upon completion of the course if they have not already earned these badges.

Limited to first 12 participants

 

 

Sunday May 18,

5pm to 8:30pm      

  • Qualified Supervision, Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat Swim Test, and laps in the pool to build up endurance Begin First Aid

 

Tuesday May 20,

6pm to 8:30pm      

  • ‘Throws, Row, and Go’
  • Laps for endurance, rescues entries and approaches
  • Continue First Aid, Lifeguard job and responsibilities

 

Thursday May 22,

6pm to 8:30pm      

  • Emergency action plans, recognition of emergencies
  • Laps for endurance, Diving techniques

 

Saturday May 24,

9am to 6pm           

  • Practice escapes, rescues, LBD’s, Retrieval of items from water.
  • Canoes, First Aid, spinals and neck injuries
  • Laps and water entries

 

Sunday May 25,

9am to 6pm           

  • Continue rescues and practice them
  • Swim test
  • From 4 to 6pm lifeguard for family swim time
  • Written and practical test
